The do’s and don’ts of your first cruise vacation

Recently I took a five day, four night, cruise to the Bahamas with Royal Caribbean. I had an absolute blast with all my girlfriends, but I learned a lot that could have helped me prior to boarding. I’m sharing with y’all my top 10 do’s and don’ts for taking your first-ever cruise vacation.

Do pack light

Like most people, I tend to over pack. However, on a cruise your space is extremely limited, so packing light is a necessity. Make a list, and stick to it. You’ll need a few bathing suits, comfortable lounge wear and a bit nicer attire for dinner, but that’s about it. Bring a comfortable pair of shoes to walk around in once ported and a book to read for the beach and you’ll be good to go!

Don’t forget sunscreen

I can not begin to tell you how many lobsters I saw walking around the ship. I take my skin care very seriously and apply sunscreen and then reapply it every couple hours. Not only will you still tan, but you will lower your chance of skin cancer.

Do purchase the unlimited drinking package

Did I mentioned it’s unlimited? I was on the fence at first about purchasing one, but it was so worth the cost. You can have almost any cocktail, shot, beer or wine you want — and it’s top shelf too.

Don’t get dehydrated

With many drinks comes much responsibility. Throughout the day you’ll be laying out, sipping Bahama Mamma’s and probably not thinking much about water. But please do. It’s so easy to get sick on a cruise, and staying hydrated can really help avoid that. Following the Latest News Bahamas can help with more info for when one want to visit the islands.

Do talk to everyone

There are people from all over in one location, so make sure you put on your extrovert hat and have some interesting conversations. While on my cruise, I met an older couple who had been on 123 cruises in their life — that’s insane. They were so fun and inviting though, and their top advice for taking your first cruise was to have fun!

Don’t go in March, unless on spring break

March is college kids’ spring break season, so unless you are a spring breaker, I strongly encourage you not to book your first cruise in March. I was a spring breaker, and I still got annoyed by all the overly drunk college kids everywhere I went.

Do pack dramamine

If you get at all sea sick, then I definitely encourage Dramamine. I forgot it myself, but thankfully I had some smart friends who thought to pack it. The first night is a little rougher than the others, so you may just need it once or every day.

Don’t stress/rush

There will be a million things you can do on a cruise, but don’t worry, you’ll get to them all. You’re on vacation so take it easy, do what you love to do and if that means your group splitting up then that’s okay. You’re paying a decent amount of money for this vacation, so make sure to enjoy yourself as much as you can.

Do gamble but

Don’t gamble too much

Just about every cruise ship will have a casino, and trying out the different slot machines and poker games is a blast. But, it can get addicting, so I encourage you to set aside some money that you wont mind losing and have fun. In case addiction becomes a problem liverpool rehab centre has very options in regard to private residential rehab for you or a loved one, advise them to look for the inpatient gambling addiction services. Also consider getting a luxury rehab costs from the Addiction Treatment Rehab Center.
