Why Rent Your Clothing and Jewelry

I’m going to share with you my biggest secret on how I stay up to date on fashion trends every season. I rent instead of buy!

For the past couple of years, I have been using both Nuuly and Rocksbox  to rent fun new clothing and jewelry that is stylish and seasonal. These companies have changed my closet and Instagram aesthetic forever and even if become rich and famous, (lowkey goals), I’ll still be using these sites because I love them that much.

This blog post contains affiliate links that are at no additional cost to you.

Rocksbox

Rocksbox was the first rental service I had ever tried. I had seen it all over social media 2 years ago and was floored when someone from their team reached out to see if I wanted to try it for a couple of months. Well, those couple months turned into a couple of years and I have purchased numerous pieces of jewelry from them.

They carry jewelry brands like Kate Spade, Kendra Scott, Sophie Harper, and more. When you first sign up you answer some questions about your personal style and go through their collections to add ones you like to your wishlist. Then a stylist chooses 3 pieces for you but if you don’t like one or any of the pieces you can swap them out and choose your own custom box.

Rocksbox is only $21 a month and if you purchase any of your pieces of jewelry that money goes towards the purchase! They constantly have sales and refresh their pieces to stay in style and in season. If you’re interested you can try them free for the first month with code WINESTYLEXOXO.

Nuuly

Nuuly is a newer rental service owned by URBN, the company that runs Anthropologie, Free People, and Urban Outfitters. Each month you pay $88 plus tax for 6 pieces of clothing that you choose! They carry all of those brands mentioned above and more. $88 may seem a little steep, but Nuuly has helped me save so much over the months on clothes that I would only wear a few times, get pictures in and not wear again.

They are perfect for special occasions, trying new style trends outside of your comfort zone, and for rotating out cute winter coats. The pieces they carry range typically from $50-$500+ so you 1000% get your money’s worth. Through the year I’ve only purchased a few pieces because I really love rotating out the unique fun styles in my closet. However, they do often offer a large discount on the pieces in your box if you do want to purchase them.

I also love that even if you spill on your clothing item or a button falls off, you can send it back and they take care of it at no extra cost to you. They have an extensive cleaning process before the items are sent to the next customer and have taken extra precautions during Covid-19 to ensure safety for their clients and their staff.

You can try Nuuly for $10 off your first month through this link here!

Save the planet

Another reason I love renting clothing and jewelry is the environmental aspect. You’ve probably heard already how harmful fast fashion is for the environment and how many clothes get thrown out every year. By renting I feel a little better knowing that these clothes are being recycled and worn by others which hopefully reduces how much is being produced and is a small step in the right direction.

If you know of any other ways of being environmentally friendly while staying stylish please let me know in the comments below. And if you have any questions on either rental service leave a comment or shoot me a message over social media!
