Where I’ve been and where I’m going

It’s been about a month since I’ve been able to write a post. My apologies for the delay, but I have had quite the month. After graduating from UNC I have been traveling, visiting friends and packing up my life in Chapel Hill. I wanted to share with y’all a little about where I’ve been and where I’m headed!

Where I’ve been

Like many college students, after I graduated I decided to travel before joining the “real world.” Due to my Jewish heritage, I was able to go on Birthright, which is a free trip to Israel. There we traveled throughout the country and learned more about both the religion and history of Israel . Israel was uniquely beautiful and everyone there was so welcoming and kind. I loved traveling all over the small country from the sea of Galilee, to the desert, and to Tel Aviv.

After my time in Israel, I decided to continue my travels to Greece. I spent a short time in Athens and was able to see the amazing historical sites as well as experience some of the local culture. Then I took a ferry to a small Grecian island called Paros. Paros is part of the Cyclades of Greece and is one of the most beautiful islands I’ve ever seen. There I relaxed, met locals and even went on a boat tour to Anti Paros (yes they named a smaller island beside Paros Anti Paros lol).

Once back in the states I spent a few days in New York City visiting with friends and enjoying the local sites. Then at home I had a few days to pack up my life in my silver Prius and begin my journey to California.

Where I’m going

After packing up my life I started our cross country road trip to Northern California. I was so thankful to have my best friend Ava replace my shitty ex-boyfriend as my road trip partner. Our trip wasn’t a glamorous stop and site see type road trip. Rather we planned about 12 hours a day stopping only when necessary and staying with family and friends along the way.

Four days in the car brought us a deeper appreciation for each other, the podcast 2 Dope Queens and old  school Taylor Swift. Thankfully we made it to California on time and with no car trouble at all.

Now here I get to start my dream job as a wine tasting associate at Tank Garage Winery and T-Vine Winery. I am thrilled to be doing something I love in a place I love. However I do have those new place nerves of making new friends and starting my life completely over. Thankfully I do have family and a few friends out here to lean on!

My hope for my new California life is to deeply invest in my job and the people there, as well as invest in my blog more. I am thankful for the numerous opportunities I’ve had to travel, work with amazing companies and meet incredible people. I plan to share with y’all a lot more about my time in both Israel and Greece in my next few posts.

I wanted to give a special thank you to both Xomandysue and Studiofourthirtysix for the beautiful outfits and jewelry. You can use code MIKAYLA35 to get 35% off at Xomandysue (I am not receiving profit from your purchases, just love this brand).

Welcome to The Wine Style, my name is Mikayla. I am a California born and North Carolina raised twenty-something with a passion for wine and style. After graduating college, I moved back to California and have been working in wine ever since. I also promise to keep my picks affordable because wine and fashion doesn’t have to break the bank. The Wine Style is also a place for your voice to be heard and to connect with others so always choose to be brave and post any comments or questions you may have and feel free to reach out with any inquiries.
