March is Women’s History Month and what better way to show your support than by shopping from women-owned businesses? For centuries, the wine industry has been a predominately male-led industry and while in the past few decades women have made strides to get their foot in the cellar door, there are still very few women-owned wineries nationwide. According to Women Winemakers of California and Beyond, about 14% of all California wineries have a lead female winemaker, but far fewer are women-owned. Why first time visitors should visit Sonoma County over Napa Valley
For those who follow me, you may know I live in the beautiful wine country region of California, more specifically in Sonoma county. I have worked in both Napa Valley and Sonoma County during my time here. The two are approximitely 30 minutes to an hour apart from one another and have hundreds of wineries to explore.
