Where to next?
With the end of the year approaching so quickly, I am questioning where 2017 has gone. It seems like UNC just won the national championship yesterday! And while I may not like that the year has flown by, I am excited for my second annual EF Ultimate Break New Years trip.
This New Years I will once again be taking an EF Ultimate Break trip, recently changed from EF College Break. I’ll be headed to Dublin and London for eight days with my boyfriend, and I could not be more excited!
Last year
I spent the previous New Years in Costa Rica with some amazing new friends I met while there. The trip was filled with warm weather, delicious food and thrilling adventures. A few of my favorite activities included zip lining over the beautiful lush forests that gave me an incredible view of the country and made my heart race with adrenaline; kayaking across Lake Arenal; exploring a Costa Rican coffee plantation to learn how coffee is made and so many others.

This New Years
This New Years I am bubbling with excitement about heading to the UK. The trip is eight days. The first and last are for travel and then we spend three days filled with activities in Dublin and three in London.
For the first full day in Dublin we will explore the area with a tour director and visit Grafton Street and Temple district. Then we’ll check out sites like St. Patrick’s Cathedral and pour our own pint at the Guinness Storehouse that overlooks the Dublin Skyline. That night we’ll ring in the New Years with locals at some favorite bars or clubs. The next day we have a free day before heading to London. I am currently researching possibilities of things to do on our free day in Dublin so if you have any suggestions let me know in the comments below.
Once in London our group will take walking tours through the infamous city and see the beautiful sites. I really love EF Ultimate Breaks tour guides because they are typically from these areas and have a wealth of knowledge about the country and city that I wouldn’t receive had I planned the trip myself. Then we have a lot of free time in London and during that time I plan to visit the Warner Brothers Harry Potter Studios. I am a huge Harry Potter fan, and this is a dream come true for me! I can’t wait to share how it goes with y’all.

How I’m preparing
I am itching to leave for this trip, but am not quite ready yet. I’ve never traveled to another country during winter and have no idea what to expect. I’m starting to research what the weather will be like and tips for this time of year in the UK. I’m also on the lookout for cute winter attire for both me and my boyfriend. I’ll show some looks I love below!
For accommodations we stay in beautiful hotels or bread and breakfasts that are handpicked by those at EF. We don’t find out each specific hotel we’ll be staying in until about a month before. I will update this post later to share with y’all where that’ll be once I know. While in Costa Rica I was always blown away by the places they picked for us, so I have high expectations for this trip as well.
Overall, I think ringing in the New Year in a new country is an amazing experience. It’s also a tradition I plan to continue! If you want to follow along on my journey then make sure to follow my Instagram to see all the beautiful sites along with me. I can’t wait to share with y’all how it goes. Again, if you have any suggestions for things to do let me know in the comments below!
